NSSC Members: Our planned meeting to discuss a new building project must be postponed. We are waiting for architectural plans to present to the members. We apologize for any inconvenience and for the late notice. The new meeting time will be December 19 at 7:30pm. The meeting will be held in the library at North Springfield Elementary. Again, it is critically important that you come, if at all possible. We will be discussing options for some pretty significant projects on our pool which may impact our membership dues and/or an assessment. We very much need to hear from the membership in order to make any decisions. There are also several positions on the NSSC board which need to be filled before nest summer including Social and Chief of Staff. If you would like more information on these positions or are interested in any other board positions please let one of the board members know. The current board members are listed on our website http://www.ns-sc.org/ If you would like to help on a particular committee we always need help. NSSC Board |

[NSSC-ANNOUNCE: 11]: Dolphin Diving News!
FIRST PRACTICE TUESDAY JUNE 5TH 4:30-5:30. I will be at the pool on Monday at 4:30 to answer any questions and collect registration forms. All divers must be registered before they can practice. Below is the 2012 Diving Newsletter and meet schedule. Volunteers are needed at each meet. If you are interested in becoming a judge please attend one of the judges clinics listed below. Any questions please contact me. Welcome to Dolphin Diving!!! 2012 Dive Team Welcome to Dolphin Diving! The 2012 NVSL Dive Season is going to be an exciting one for the North Springfield Dolphins. We are in Division 5 again this year. We’ll be facing some great competition, as we will be diving against: Chesterbrook, Old Keene Mill, Rolling Hills, Sleepy Hollow (SHRA) and Kent Gardens. This year we’re hosting two home meets. We are looking for eager divers, as well as eager parents to participate in the many volunteer opportunities to support the dive team. Experience is not required (for the diver or the parent). I especially need parents who are interested in judging to participate in one of the judges’ clinics, so that we can share the volunteering responsibilities for the meets. I am trying to arrange a clinic at North Springfield before the first meet. Each meet home meet we need to provide 3 table workers and 2 judges. Each away meet we need to provide 3 judges and 2 table workers. I would really like to “spread the wealth” this summer and see some new faces volunteering. All new parents are welcome to volunteer; we are happy to train you and all are welcome regardless of experience. I will be experiencing with a new sign up process for meet volunteers so that we have volunteers in place before the start of the season. More about that later! It is my pleasure to announce our new dive coach, Amanda Imbriglia. Mandy joins the Diving Dolphins with a love for the sport and a great deal of experience both on and off the boards. She was a member of the Ravensworth Dive Team and Bishop Ireton Dive Team. Last year she was the Head Coach at Wakefield Chapel. She comes highly recommend by Daniel Martin, who sadly had to say goodbye this year due to commitments at Virginia Tech this summer. Mandy will continue where Daniel left off working with all divers in every age group and skill level. She will be emphasizing proper dive technique, good sportsmanship, teamwork, confidence on the board and most of all having fun. In addition to diving, we hope to offer a variety of fun activities and events for the kids, with enough parent support and involvement we can make it a fun and exciting year. Jasmine Bounds and Jack Gigliotti will support Mandy with her coaching duties. PRACTICE SCHEDULE June 5th-15th

[NSSC-ANNOUNCE: 10]: New Coach for Swim Team
Hello North Springfield, I'm happy to say that summer is just around the corner and with it comes another fun swim season. For those of you who do not know me, my name is Betsy Kruse and I, along with Joe Rolen and Nathan Seeto, will be coaching the Dolphins for the 2012 season. I have been a part of the coaching staff for the past two summers and this will be my tenth year as a swimmer. Nathan Seeto has swam for NS in the past and coached as well and Joe Rolen will be joining us from Wakefield Chapel where he has also swam and coached. This season we are in division 17 where we will be competing against Bren Mar- Edsall Park, Virginia Hills, Pinewood Lake, Springfield, and Broyhill Crest. It takes a lot of volunteer work for a swim meet to take place, this year we are fortunate enough to be hosting three home meets (see meet schedule below), so please let *Grace Neary (the team rep) know how you can help out in any way as there are many roles that need to be filled. Please click here and sign-up for the 2012 NSSC Online Swim Meet Volunteer Sign-Up Sheet! One of the greatest strengths that all of the coaches have is our enthusiasm and love of swimming. While we may be a relatively young staff, I believe that this will only work to our advantage, as it is one of my main goals to build the swim team by recruiting new athletes and to focus on instilling a passion for the sport in all of the members of the team. Word of mouth is essential in order for the swim program to grow, and I would really appreciate it if all of the parents and swimmers could try to inform any pool members about the swim team who are not currently involved. **Another point I would like to stress is that no matter what your age or experience level it is never too late to join the team. We will work with any new swimmers to help develop their skills and I'm confident that anyone who is willing can improve. I'm determined to make this season as fun as possible, while still focusing on improving the skills of each swimmer. I will try to give each swimmer individual attention during practice, but I may not be able to fix or see every detail of their strokes. If there is something that a swimmer would like me to work with them on, then please let me know and I will try to highlight it during practice or even after for some one on one instruction. The practice schedule is below, but I am more than willing to add in evening practices if this would be easier for some swimmers. I'm also requesting that swimmers let me know when they will not be able to attend practice, this way swimmers will not just skip and it also eliminate some of the stress of trying to organize meet sheets. During practice I expect all swimmers to to listen and cooperate. I'm hoping to establish a close relationship with everyone. I have many plans to incorporate fun competition during practice that I am hoping will motivate swimmers to want to improve. Please make sure all swimmers have caps and swim goggles as this will help improve swim habits. Overall, I'm hoping for everyone to have fun and by the end of the season to be already looking forward to next summer. Sincerely, Practice Schedule: June 4th - June 15th
